<p>Just like <code>alert</code>, <code>confirm</code> is also a global method that can be accessed in any part of the Javascript code. The main difference is that on popping out the alert it returns a boolean value, eithor true or false based on the user action.&nbsp;</p>

By using <code>alert</code> and <code>confirm</code> popup methods we cannot let the user enter/send the data, and to fulfil that case we have this <code>prompt</code> method. Whenever user enters any data in the popup box, the same gets returned on clicking the <code>OK</code> button else <code>null</code>.</p>

<p>There are few points to note before you use these popup methods in your code. These methods <em>should not be</em> used when you want to have a very good user experience.</p>
<p>The <code>alert</code> method has a history of being used in XSS(Cross Site Scripting) attacks, so you should never use <code>alert</code> method with user entered data directly.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The most general use of <code>alert</code> and <code>confirm</code> boxes is, when users are about to leave your site or when something is not saved or incomplete, showing these popups feels normal. Sites like Facebook uses this type of popup alert when you try to go back or leave the site in between uploading or publishing the post.</p>
